The City of Emerson Council has tentatively adopted a 2017 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by .75 percent over the rollback rate.
All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase to be held at the Emerson City Hall Council Chambers, 700 Highway 293, Emerson, GA 30137 on August 14, 2017 at 10:30am and 6:30pm

The tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 1.872 mills, an increase of .014 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 1.858 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately 0.56¢ and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $250,000 is approximately $1.40.
NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION AND QUALIFYING
Qualifying for Council Member will begin on Monday,
August 21, 2017 at 8:30 am and end on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 4:30 pm. The qualifying fee for Council Member is $25.00. The last day to register to vote in the Municipal General Election and Run-off (if necessary) is October 10, 2017.
The City of Emerson General Election will be held on
November 7, 2017 between the hours of 7:00 am – 7:00 pm at the Emerson City Complex, 700 Highway 293, Emerson, GA. The run-off (if necessary) will be held on December 5, 2017.
Two Council Member offices are up for election this year, each with a four year term.

A boil water notice was issued on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 due to a water main break on Puckett Road. We are pleased to report the lab results show no contaminates in the water supply. Therefore, the boil water notice affecting customer of the Emerson water system is now lifted.
